Registered Massage Therapists (RMT) primarily use hands-on soft tissue techniques to elicit changes in muscle tone/tightness and nervous system input, and impact to the circulatory system. RMTs are an integral part of any rehabilitation team. Massage therapy often works well in conjunction with other disciplines as more time can be spent on correlating physical dysfunction, pain and stress relief.
Momentum Health Registered Massage Therapists provide multiple types of treatment
- Swedish Massage is a gentle form of massage that uses long strokes, kneading, circular movements, vibration, and tapping to help relax and energize the body. Swedish massage is often used for relaxation and stress relief.
- Deep Tissue Massage uses slow, deep strokes and firm pressure to help release tension in the muscles and connective tissues. It’s often used to treat chronic pain and injuries. Often a deep tissue massage will incorporate elbows or forearms.
- Sports Massage is typically designed for athletes and active individuals. It can help improve flexibility, reduce muscle soreness, and prevent injuries when applied in conjunction with remedial exercise.
- Hot Stone Massage uses a hot water bath to heat smooth stones that are incorporated into the massage. Your RMT will utilize the stones to heat specific tissues as well as using the stones as a massage tool.
- Prenatal Massage is designed for pregnant women. It can help relieve pain and discomfort associated with pregnancy, as well as reduce stress and anxiety. Our RMTs will use specialized pillows and bolsters to support your body’s positioning during the massage.
- Trigger Point Therapy involves the application of pressure to specific trigger points in the body. It can help relieve pain and tension in the muscles, as well as improve range of motion.
- Myofascial Release: This is a type of massage that focuses on the fascia, which is the connective tissue that surrounds and supports the muscles. Myofascial release can help release tension and improve mobility.
- Cupping: Cupping works on large fascial sections that need to move! The cup creates a pocket of suction directly over the area where the cup is placed. It can then be left stationary for a continued stretch or moved around your back or other section as needed. Physiotherapists may also use cups to facilitate a soft tissue release when appropriate.
- Rapid Neurofascial Reset (NFR) is used by some therapists to target a very specific muscle or muscle group. These appointments can be booked in as little as 15 minutes and there is no need to remove clothing to gain the benefits of this treatment. NFR is a treatment that is often combined with a Physiotherapy or Chiropractic plan of care.
- Lymphatic Drainage: A gentle massage technique to stimulate the movement of lymph fluids around blocked areas towards healthy lymph vessels, where it can be drained.
What to expect during a massage at Momentum Health
Because we are a medical clinic, we will have an intake form for you to complete, just the same as you would for any of our other clinicians. This form will give the therapist a complete picture of your overall health and how we can best provide the care you are seeking.
We will tailor each session to meet your goals! If there is a specific service you’d like added, like Mint Oil or Hot Stone, be sure to communicate this with the clinic prior to your appointment.
Please be sure to communicate adaptations with your massage therapist that will make you more comfortable, such as the pressure and depth of the treatment. We may encourage a particular treatment, but if it is too much for you, we need to know!

The therapist will give you a moment to undress to your level of comfort and get on the table, under the sheets before entering the room. Some treatments can be performed with clothing still on if preferred.
Any questions? Please ask us or your therapist directly. We are happy to help.
