What is Active Release Techniques (ART®)?
ART is a hands-on treatment method that focuses on identifying and addressing soft tissue restrictions and adhesions. The practitioner will apply pressure to the affected tissue, while moving it from a shortened to a lengthened position, based on where the restriction occurs. The results can be immediate and are often effective in relieving pain, restoring range of motion, improving muscle function, and enhancing overall performance.
How Does ART® Work?
Our practitioners will apply precise manual pressure and prescribed movements to break down scar tissue and adhesions in your affected muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerve pathways. While there may be some “pull” or discomfort in the moment, you should feel a difference after as little as one treatment.
Who Can Benefit from ART®?
This technique can be very quick and effective in addressing sports-related injuries, repetitive strain injuries, headaches, back pain, neck pain, and other musculoskeletal issues. ART® can benefit individuals of all ages and activity levels, from athletes to office workers.
What about other chiropractors at Momentum Health?
Many of our chiropractors provide soft tissue work as well, such as muscle release techniques, neuro-fascial reset, or acupuncture. Finding the right treatment for you shouldn’t be a guessing game – we will walk you through our recommendations at your very first visit to ensure you get the right treatment for your needs, with any practitioner you see.
Choosing the Right Treatment for You
You’ll want to know if ART® is the right treatment for you. All of our patients for their first visit undergo an overall assessment where the practitioner will discuss your symptoms and medical history. Personalized treatment plans are always tailored to your individual specific condition and goals.
