Jay Thatcher

(BA, MScOT)

Jay earned his Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Queen’s University in 2017. Since then, he has supported patients across the age spectrum in Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta. His experience includes return-to-work rehabilitation, pediatrics, seating and mobility, augmentative and alternative communication, chronic pain management, and clinical leadership.

Jay provides Occupational Therapy at Momentum Health while also working within the public healthcare system. He has a particular interest in supporting patients with return-to-work rehabilitation, chronic pain, and complex functional challenges. Drawing on a strong background in coaching and his post-graduate certificate in chronic pain management, Jay is passionate about supporting clients through practical rehabilitation strategies to help individuals return to meaningful daily activities.

Jay is also actively involved in clinical mentorship and education. He has provided clinical instruction to students from several disciplines and enjoys supporting new clinicians as they develop their practice. He has pursued additional training in cognitive behavioural therapy for occupational therapy, along with coaching and leadership development, to strengthen his therapeutic presence.

Outside of work, Jay is an active member of the local roller derby community. He sits on the Board of Directors and skates for Chinook City Roller Derby, while also refereeing for Calgary Roller Derby and Rockyview Juniors. He earned his roller derby name, “Craftermath,” by collecting hobbies like they’re going out of style.
