Rachel Hawkins

(MPT, BKin (Honours), Certified Schroth Scoliosis Therapist)

Rachel grew up in Calgary playing a variety of sports and is very passionate about empowering people to get back to their active lifestyles and daily activities. At 13 years old, Rachel was inspired to pursue a career in physiotherapy when she began her personal journey living with and managing scoliosis. Spinal treatment is now one of the areas of physiotherapy that she enjoys treating and continues to pursue. Rachel understands the patient experience and values the role of chronic pain management in improving her patients’ quality of life.

Rachel graduated with an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Human Kinetics from St. Francis Xavier University, where she also played varsity soccer. Rachel then returned home to Calgary to work for Momentum Health as a Kinesiologist prior to completing her Master’s of Science in Physiotherapy with Distinction, from Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland.
After graduation, Rachel lived in Vilnius, Lithuania for one year. During that time, she worked as a physiotherapist for a professional women’s soccer club while simultaneously playing for the team. This experience allowed her to pursue her passion for sports and physiotherapy, with a focus on injury prevention and rehabilitation.

Her post-graduate training includes Level 1 IMS (dry needling) certification and completion of the ISST Schroth courses. She is an ISST Schroth certified therapist, allowing her to provide Schroth-based treatment for people of all ages with all types of scoliosis, hyper/hypo-kyphosis and spinal deformities. This includes young adults who developed scoliosis in their adolescent years.

In Calgary, Rachel enjoys hiking in the Rockies, cycling with her family, and skiing at Sunshine. She is thrilled to once again be part of the Momentum Health team, supporting Calgarians in achieving lasting, meaningful recovery.
